• Who Owns the Sun?, by Stacy Chbosky, was made into an award-winning, live-action film by Disney Educational Productions.
• The Half & Half Dog, by Lisa Gross, was chosen by the editors of Newsweek as one of the Fifteen Best Children's Books of the 1988 Christmas season.
• A Stone Promise, by Cara Reichel. Cara enjoyed presenting an autographed copy of her book to President and Mrs. George Bush in the Rose Garden of the White House.
• Joshua Disobeys, by six-year-old Dennis Volmer, is featured as a fine example of a picture-story book in the Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Treasures To Share Library Series. Dennis is also listed in the Guinness World Records as the youngest author/illustrator of a commercially published book.
• Fogbound, by Steven Shepard, inspired an orchestral score that was composed by Stanford University professor and conductor, Dr. Arthur Barnes. The premiere performance was presented by the Pops Orchestra at the Lincoln Arts Festival.
• World War Won, by Dav Pilkey. Dav has now become one of America's most popular creators of children's books and has had over 26 more books published.
• Elmer the Grump, by Elizabeth Haidle. Elizabeth has gone on to illustrate 16 other books that have been published, and she had contracts to illustrate 10 more.
• A Special Day, by Dubravaka Kolanovic. Dubravaka returned to her home in Croatia where she has illustrated 3 more books that have been published in her country.

Welcome Budding Writers, Parents, And Lovers of Poetry & Dramatic, Wondrous Tales!
This blog will house stories that have been percolating at the Writers Studio. It's work by our students, some barely six years old, others on the verge of teen-dom, and still others young adults! It's also an e-version of our Doors Wide Open newsletter, which is edited and designed by our students.
I'll be posting announcements of upcoming workshops here too. Of course, if you know children who'd like to take their creative writing to the next step, I could have a workshop materialize around your dinner table!

- My Novel "Even the Peacock Cries" is ready and I'm currently looking for an agent and publisher to fall in love with it. Content Strategy, PR, Social Media and Marketing Communications define my professional life.
